Original poetry & spoken word.

That’s me pictured with the late Benjamin Zephaniah, my friend and mentor. Benjamin was a Professor at my University. He taught me everything I know about performance poetry.

I regularly perform my spoken word poetry around the North West. Writing poetry has really helped with my copywriting, and vice versa. When I’m writing copy, I read it aloud, I notice how it flows, and I make sure that the words being used are the words needed. Similar to writing poetry. Every word has a purpose. Poetry is a form of storytelling - I’m trying to make my words resonate with an audience. Just like writing copy. And I can’t help but notice that spoken word poetry is becoming more popular with audiences today - even featuring in TV, radio & YouTube advertising.
